Heat Treatment PreTreatment Coating with Minimox® solution causes the reduction of oxide scale growth at elevated temperatures. The image below shows a coupon of 410 stainless steel that was heat treated at 1037°C (1900°F) for one hour followed by a four-hour temper at 760°C  (1400°F).

The results of uncoated vs. coated 410 stainless steel are also shown below for the conditions of 850°C in air for 216 hrs.  In cross section, the uncoated sample had a 450µm oxide while the coated sample had a minimal oxide layer.

Minimox® surface treatment successfully protects martensitic stainless steels to over 1000°C as shown in the images below.
